Arsenal handed huge transfer twist as unexpected £25m decision made after deal confirmed

Andrea Berta could well have just been handed a double boost regarding an expected Arsenal departure before deadline day of the summer transfer window.

The Gunners have solely been focused on new signings over the last few months, with Viktor Gyokeres, Eberechi Eze, Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, Christian Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga all joining to strengthen Mikel Arteta's squad.

Completing seven additions has resulted in over £250million being spent which certainly means the aim will now be to agree exits over the next 48 hours or so. Jakub Kiwior looks set to become the first summer departure - with his move to Porto on the verge of being announced.

Piero Hincapie looks set to be his with the Ecuador international set to arrive on a season-long loan from Bayer Leverkusen that includes a £45million option-to-buy, football.london understands.

Even though Berta has worked his magic yet again to prevent the Gunners from paying a fee immediately, raising funds through permanent departures is likely to still remain a priority. Reiss Nelson is another player on the fringes that has been linked to joining other Premier League teams.

A return to Fulham looked to be a real possibility, but attempts to seal a £56million double swoop looks to have changed things. However, Crystal Palace look to be acting on their long-term interest in the 25-year-old with talks taking place, football.london understands.

Signing the Hale End graduate permanently could cost the Eagles up to £15million. Despite selling Eberechi Eze to Arsenal, Palace may not want to commit such funds to Nelson having already confirmed their £21.6million deal for Yeremy Pino.

As for Fabio Vieira, it now looks as though Stuttgart are competing with two other clubs to sign him. Sky Sports Germany's Florian Plettenberg revealed Bayern Munich were keepings tabs on his situation and he's now claiming that West Ham have entered the race for his signature.

That is certainly a surprise considering the Hammers' priority looked to be on midfield and defensive additions following such a poor start to the season. However, interest from London Stadium could see a bidding war start which would certainly make it more likely that his £25million asking price is met.

Stuttgart are certainly capable of hitting that financial demand after selling Nick Wolmetade to Newcastle United for £69million with that switch announced on Saturday morning.

Despite that, it seems likely he will still be deemed too expensive by the German club, but West Ham showing an interest has likely given renewed life to a permanent departure going through.
