Arsenal take on Liverpool in the Premier League on Thursday night and the champions will be without at least one key player in Mohamed Salah.

Liverpool will be without star player Mohamed Salah when they play Arsenal in the Premier League on Thursday night. The Gunners will host the Merseyside outfit in a mouth-watering midweek match at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal go into the game on the back of a 3-2 win over Bournemouth in the Premier League last weekend, with Declan Rice on the score-sheet twice while Gabriel Magalhaes grabbed the opening goal.

The win moved Arsenal six points clear at the top of the Premier League table, due to Manchester City's 1-1 draw with Chelsea a day later, while Aston Villa are also six points behind after they beat Nottingham Forest.

Thursday night will see Arsenal host Liverpool in north London and Mikel Arteta now knows for certain that their opponents will not be able to include Salah on the team-sheet.

Salah was in action for Egypt on Monday evening as his country faced Benin in the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Liverpool forward was on the score-sheet, alongside goals from Marwan Attia and Yasser Ibrahim for Egypt, with a 3-1 victory over Benin confirmed.

The win for Egypt means they have now booked their place in the quarter-final of AFCON, where the fixture will take place on Saturday evening in Morocco.

It also meant Salah is now guaranteed not to be available for Liverpool for the clash against Arsenal in midweek, with the 33-year-old already missing his club's last four matches in the Premier League.

Arsenal will be determined to pick up an improved result against Liverpool compared to their last match against their title rivals.

The Gunners were beaten 1-0 at Anfield in August, which was the first of their two defeats in the Premier League so far this season, in an otherwise brilliant charge so far.
