Arsenal began the new Premier League with a valuable three points against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.
The Gunners had to work for all three points after Riccardo Calafiori scored the only goal of the game in the first half.
But you already knew that, didn't you? Here, Football.London looks at some of the news and transfer gossip you might have missed over the last 24 hours.
Arsenal handed new Viktor Gyokeres transfer verdict after £55m transfer
Former Southampton and England midfielder Matt Le Tissier has backed Viktor Gyokeres to be a success at Arsenal after his £55m move from Sporting CP earlier this month.
The 27-year-old scored more than 50 goals across all competitions last season as Sporting won the domestic double for the first time in more than 20 years.
But despite his rich vein of form in Portugal, the Sweden international drew criticism for his performance in Arsenal's win over United on Sunday.
However, Le Tissier, who scored more than 100 goals for Southampton during his playing days, has backed Gyokeres to be a hit in North London.
Speaking to Football Insider, the 56-year-old said: “Arsenal have been screaming out for a striker for a long time, so Gyokeres was a must-sign this summer for Arsenal.
"They had to sign a centre forward of some substance this summer. We’ve seen his goal-scoring record over the last couple of seasons, it’s been pretty impressive. I think Arsenal getting a decent centre forward in was key.”
FL says: Le Tissier is right. It is far too soon to judge Gyokeres after one appearance in the Premier League.
His record in Portugal speaks for itself, and if the Gunners can get the Sweden international to replicate half of the form he showed last season, then it will be £55m well spent.
Arsenal could use £20m defender in deal for Eberechi Eze
Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior could reportedly be used as part of a deal to sign Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace.
According to the Independent, the Gunners are hopeful of snaring the England international away from their North London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, and are willing to use the Poland international as a part-exchange to sweeten the deal.
The Gunners signed Kiwior from Spezia for £20m in January 2023.
FL says: If the Gunners are able to use Kiwior to sweeten Palace into selling Eze, then it would be a terrific bit of business from the North Londoners.
Mikel Arteta's side are well stocked in defence, while Palace look like they could lose Marc Guehi to Liverpool before September. All in, it feels like a sensible deal for all parties involved.
