Arsenal handed perfect Rodrygo transfer opportunity as Mikel Arteta can land £30m boost

18 hours ago 36

Arsenal will continue their pre-season preparations when they face Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur in Hong Kong as part of their Singapore tour.

Off the pitch, the Gunners have been active in the summer transfer window, completing signings for Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Norgaard, Martin Zubimendi, and Viktor Gyokeres. The latter has already set a new Arsenal club record even before stepping onto the pitch to make his debut.

The Athletic reports that shirt sales for the Sweden international have already broken Arsenal’s record before he has even played a game for the club. Gyokeres has been given the No. 14 shirt, famously worn by Gunners legend Thierry Henry.

Given the possibility of more deals before the window closes on September 1, football.london takes a look at the latest headlines from in and around the Emirates Stadium.

Rodrygo update

According to The Athletic, neither Real Madrid’s board nor manager Xabi Alonso will block Rodrygo’s exit if a fair offer arrives this summer.

However, it remains unclear who is actively bidding for him. Reports suggest Arsenal have held talks with Rodrygo’s representatives, but the Gunners are said to be prioritising other positions.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have made Alexander Isak their top transfer target, while Paris Saint-Germain have denied any interest.

football.london says:This is a great opportunity for Arsenal to approach the Spanish giants over Rodrygo. The Brazilian fits the profile Arsenal are targeting - a dynamic, versatile attacker with a wealth of top-level experience, including Champions League success and consistent performances.

A well-structured offer in the region of £70–80million could tempt Madrid, especially with increased competition for places in their forward line.

Opportunities like this don’t come around often, and if Arsenal are serious about landing Rodrygo, they must act decisively.

Fabio Vieira interest

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, West Ham United are considering a potential move for the Arsenal midfielder Fabio Vieira this summer.

The Portuguese playmaker, who cost around £30m, spent last season on loan at FC Porto, but the Portuguese giants chose not to pursue a permanent deal with Arsenal.

While the Hammers haven’t made a formal approach yet, Vieira is reportedly on their radar as the summer window progresses especially with Arsenal open to offers.

football.london says: Arsenal have already spent big this summer so the focus must now be to offload those players who are no longer part of Arteta's plans. For Arsenal, offloading Vieira would not only help balance the books but also free up space in the squad for future signings.

With the Gunners open to offers, this could be a move that benefits all parties but as with most transfer situations, timing and negotiation will be key.
