Arsenal handed transfer decision as £19m bid made and response expected

Arsenal star Leandro Trossard has reportedly been the subject of a bid, with the transfer window still open in some countries.

The summer window has been and gone for Arsenal and fellow Premier League teams, closing on September 1. But other countries in Europe, including Turkey, can still sign players until Friday, September 12.

The Gunners made eight additions as Mikel Arteta strengthened his side amid hopes of finally winning a major trophy this season.

Eberechi Eze, Viktor Gyokeres, Martin Zubimendi, Cristhian Mosquera, Christian Norgaard, Noni Madueke, Piero Hincapie and Kepa Arrizabalaga all completed their moves to Emirates Stadium this summer.

Following the new additions to the squad, Trossard's future has been cast into doubt. Seven players departed in the summer, with only Fabio Vieira and Karl Hein leaving on loan.

Turkish outlet Sozcu report that Besiktas are pursuing Trossard and have tabled an offer worth €22 million (£19m). Both clubs are said to be in negotiations, with Arsenal’s response expected soon.

During the summer, Trossard was linked with Fenerbahce amid claims that Jose Mourinho wanted to bring him in. The Portuguese legend has since been relieved of his duties.

football.london understands that Trossard is to sign a new deal at the Emirates. After a summer of speculation, he is set to sign improved terms on his current deal, which will still run until 2027.

Arsenal have been in talks with the player’s representatives since the start of the summer. Arteta has been pleased with Trossard’s impact, with 27 goals and 13 assists over the past two seasons.

His improved salary reflects both his contributions and his standing within the squad, bringing him in line with teammates of similar seniority and importance.

With Trossard set to turn 31 in December some supporters have questioned the decision to renew his deal, particularly given the club’s interest in signing a new left-sided wide player this summer.

"That situation has been resolved in a really great way and I think he deserves recognition, and we are very happy to have him," Arteta said last month.
