Arsenal had a busy summer transfer window as they aim to make the jump from Premier League title challengers to champions.
The Gunners made seven signings in the 2025 summer window with Eberechi Eze, Viktor Gyokeres, Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, Christian Norgaard, Cristhian Mosquera and Kepa Arrizabalaga all moving to the Emirates Stadium.
Even though the transfer window has only been closed for a week, talk has already started to emerge about the business that could be completed in the New Year.
Arsenal's seven signings saw them strengthen across almost every area of the squad. However, there was one player who was heavily linked with a move to North London whose future arguably still remains unresolved.
Real Madrid star Rodrygo was tipped to move to the Premier League in the summer, with Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City mentioned as potential suitors if an exit from the Santiago Bernabeu materialised.
It remains to be seen if Arsenal will be linked with a move for Rodrygo when the January transfer window opens. A lot will depend on how much game time the Brazilian gets for Madrid across the first half of the season.
A lack of minutes and not playing in his prefered position is what saw the rumours about Rodrygo's future intensify. Should the situation remain unchanged then it would not be a massive surprise to see Arsenal linked with a move once again.
A lot will depend on whether Arsenal will have the money to spend on another signing in January, especially one for Rodrygo, who would likely cost upwards of €60million (£52million).
Rodrygo would want to play on the left wing if he was to move to Arsenal, a position which is currently occupied by Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard. However, the move to bring Eze to the club gives Arteta another option for the left side of the forward line.
As a result, if Arsenal were to, theoretically pursue a deal for Rodrygo, it may require the club to allow one of Martinelli or Trossard to leave the club in order to fund the deal and make room in the squad.
This is all speculation at this point, but as the January transfer window moves closer, do not be surprised to see rumours abour Rodrygo's future make headlines once again.
