Arsenal are in FA Cup action this weekend but there's also discussion about the summer transfer window

Following a midweek boost in the Premier League, Arsenal's focus now shifts to the FA Cup.

The 2020 champions face League One outfit Mansfield Town, who are aiming for an upset in front of their home fans after stunning victories away to Sheffield United and Burnley in previous rounds. The Gunners are riding high after getting a leg up on title rivals Manchester City.

Mikel Arteta's side secured victory over Brighton at the Amex Stadium courtesy of an early Bukayo Saka strike, while City lost points at home against a struggling Nottingham Forest side. With eight fixtures left in their campaign, Arteta's league leaders sit seven points ahead at the top.

However, Pep Guardiola's team still have nine games to play and will host Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium during the run-in. Regardless of the season's outcome, there may still be business to conduct in the transfer window for the London club. Here's the latest from the Emirates Stadium.

Eight in danger ahead of summer window

Martin Odegaard is among eight senior players who could potentially depart this summer as the Gunners aim to balance out their recent spending. According to the Telegraph, the club will need to sell at least one first-team player, and skipper Odegaard is not safe.

The Norwegian continues to be held in high esteem by his fellow players and staff. However, there are suggestions that the club may consider a departure if it could significantly boost their financial position, particularly if the £30m signing could be sold for a substantial profit.

Young talents Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri have also been mentioned as potential departures. Lewis-Skelly has mostly found himself on the bench this season, damaging his immediate England hopes in the process, while Nwaneri is spending the second half of the season on loan at Marseille.

Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard may also find their positions under threat, with Jesus and Trossard both out of contract in 2027. Ben White is another who could be offloaded after finding it tough to reclaim his place in the starting line-up following an injury-plagued 2024/25 season.

Nwaneri backed up by Marseille boss

Marseille were dealt another blow in midweek as they were eliminated from the Coupe de France. Things haven't been entirely smooth for Arsenal loanee Nwaneri at Stade Velodrome, with the club already exiting the Champions League and severing ties with manager Roberto De Zerbi in the weeks since the teenager's arrival.

Nwaneri missed from the spot as L'OM suffered a shoot-out defeat to Toulouse in the cup quarter-finals. The match ended 2-2 after regulation time, with Mason Greenwood and Igor Paixao scoring for the home side, but Yann Gboho and Charlie Cresswell sending the game to penalties.

Marseille boss Habib Beye conceded that the defeat had particularly impacted Nwaneri and Leonardo Balerdi, both of whom missed their penalties. However, the Senegalese manager was pleased to see Nwaneri step up to take the crucial fifth penalty despite the ultimate outcome.

"I won't have a discussion about that. I like the personality of a player who decides to take his responsibilities," Beye said. "We were clear in terms of the order of the penalty-takers [...] these two [players who missed] who are the most affected."
