Arsenal news round-up as a Gunners legend tells Viktor Gyokeres where he needs to improve

Arsenal's momentum has returned ahead of Sunday's crucial home clash with Chelsea.

The Gunners produced an emphatic response to their recent setbacks by demolishing Tottenham last weekend. Viktor Gyokeres and Eberechi Eze each netted twice in a commanding 4-1 victory, arriving just four days after the damaging 2-2 draw at Wolves.

That result at Molineux had prompted doubts about Arsenal's title credentials. But their display against Spurs, which re-established a five-point advantage over Manchester City at the Premier League summit, helped quieten those critics.

Their next opponents are a Chelsea side striving to qualify for the Champions League amid another turbulent campaign at Stamford Bridge, with Liam Rosenior taking charge following Enzo Maresca's dismissal. football.london brings you a round-up of the latest Arsenal news...

Gyokeres demand made

Gyokeres has been challenged to up his game against Arsenal's main challengers. The Swedish striker's up-and-down maiden campaign with the Gunners gained fresh impetus with his double in the north London derby.

Nevertheless, Arsenal legend Anders Limpar believes his compatriot must prove himself against more formidable opposition than Spurs' "awful" backline. Gyokeres has failed to score against the Manchester clubs or Liverpool this term, though Limpar acknowledges his colleagues share responsibility for that statistic.

The former winger told Bettingsidor.se: "He's struggling in some games because players like Saka, Trossard and Odegaard don't look to find Viktor. They haven't quite worked each other out yet, so he's struggled.

"When he gets more of the ball, his touch is good and he wants to receive it, so I think Arsenal have to find Viktor more, even when playing Liverpool or Manchester City, who are the top teams.

"When playing an awful defensive team like Tottenham, he looked really, really good. So they have to be patient and see what he can do against Chelsea and build on that.

"It's not heaven or hell here. We have to be patient and let him grow into the team. For some players, it takes a little longer, but he was unbelievable against Spurs."

White replacement option

Arsenal are reportedly among several clubs monitoring Eintracht Frankfurt right-back Nnamdi Collins. With Ben White now serving as understudy to Jurrien Timber and potentially departing the Emirates this summer, the Gunners are searching for a possible long-term successor.

Collins has been turning heads with his displays, cementing his reputation as one of the Bundesliga's most exciting defensive prospects. The 22-year-old, who like White can also slot into central defence, has attracted interest from multiple clubs.

According to TEAMtalk, Manchester City, Newcastle, Brentford and Brighton are also keeping tabs on Collins. White, 28, who cost Arsenal £50million from Brighton in 2021, has been the subject of interest from Barcelona, according to Spanish media.
