Arsenal make Bukayo Saka decision vs Man City as Martin Odegaard call confirmed

2 hours ago 2

Arsenal have confirmed that Bukayo Saka is among the substitutes in the Premier League clash against Manchester City on Super Sunday.

Saka has missed the Gunners' last three matches in all competitions with a muscle injury that he suffered in the victory over Leeds United in the Premier League last month.

The England international has been building up his fitness in recent weeks and returned to training ahead of the clash against Man City on Sunday afternoon at the Emirates Stadium.

Noni Madueke has been starting on the right wing for Arsenal in Saka's absence, and will be expected to do so again for the clash against Pep Guardiola's side on Super Sunday.

Arsenal go into the game against Man City on the back of a 2-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao in the Champions League in midweek.

William Saliba was an unused substitute in Arsenal's win in Bilbao in midweek, having recovered from an ankle injury he suffered before the international break, and has returned to the starting line-up to take on Man City.

Martin Odegaard and Ben White have also been on the sidelines for Arsenal in recent weeks due to injury. White has recovered to feature on the substitute's bench but Odegaard is not included in the matchday squad.

Mikel Arteta was asked about Saka's fitness during his pre-match press conference on Friday. The Arsenal boss was also asked if White and Odegaard also had a chance of featuring against Man City.

"If there is a chance, it will be after tomorrow's session because they haven't done anything yet, so we'll have more information tomorrow," Arteta told reporters on Friday.

The Gunners have won all but one of their four Premier League matches so far this season, and will be determined to close the six-point gap between themselves and leaders Liverpool.
