Arsenal are eagerly anticipating the 2025/26 season as they aim to clinch the Premier League title after several seasons as runners-up.
Gunners' head coach Mikel Arteta acknowledged that the previous season was a tough one for his squad, given their typically high aspirations. Despite securing another second-placed finish in the top flight, Arteta's team fell notably short of champions Liverpool.
However, there is a tangible sense of optimism at the Emirates Stadium, with the belief that the current summer transfer window could bring in the necessary reinforcements to end Arsenal's league title drought. One such new signing is Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres who joined from Sporting on Saturday.
Other new arrivals include midfielder Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad, who the Basque club were unable to retain due to a €60million (£51m) release clause in his contract. Brentford captain Christian Norgaard is another fresh face, joining for £15m, along with goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Below are some of the latest Arsenal headlines along with a view on each one.
Eze move
Arsenal are reportedly aiming to swiftly move to secure Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze now that a deal for Gyokeres has been completed.
The Independent claim that Mikel Arteta's side are Eze's top choice, and those close to the player are confident a deal will be done in the next few weeks. The report adds that Arsenal are hoping to agree a fee that comes to £60m, rather than the reported £68m clause.
It is claimed that there has not yet been any formal contact between the two clubs. However, the suggestions are that both will be flexible, amid good relations between the two boardrooms.
Isaac Seelochan of football.london says: "Eze would be a fantastic signing for Arsenal. They need someone for that left-wing position and he fits the bill."
Jesus claim
According to RTI Esporte, Flamengo have opened talks with Gabriel Jesus and his representatives and have ‘already received the striker’s approval to negotiate’ for a move.
However, the Brazilian club would reportedly seek a loan move rather than a permanent one, with the report claiming the loan would last until June 2026 and contain an option to buy afterwards.
Isaac Seelochan of football.london says:"It feels like Jesus' days at Arsenal are now numbered after Gyokeres' arrival. Unless he is prepared to have a cameo appearance next season, it makes sense for him to move on."
