Arsenal are reportedly mulling over a potential bid for Newcastle United defender Tino Livramento this summer no sign of contract talks at St. James' Park.

The 23-year-old England international has two years left on his current deal on Tyneside, making him an attractive target for the Gunners.

The Telegraph claims Eddie Howe's side would ask for a fee in the region of £60million for the versatile defender, who can play on either side of the defence, but predominantly as a right-back.

The Magpies are hoping to keep Livramento at the club, if he's willing to hold contract talks before the summer transfer window opens, but recognise his market value could fall if they can't agree to new terms.

The report claims Arsenal's interest will complicate matters further with contract talks shelved for the meantime, with Man City also reportedly keen on signing him, though that interest has reportedly been downplayed in recent weeks.

The defender has been a big hit at St. James' Park following his £32m move from Southampton back in 2023, with Newcastle looking for double their investment.

That could affect Arsenal's approach with the club reportedly needing to sell at least one first-team player in the summer, raising about Ben White's future at the Emirates after falling behind Jurrien Timber in the pecking order.

Arsenal's problem in the transfer market has been selling players for a considerable fee, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's £35m move to Liverpool for £35m in 2017, their record sale.

The report claims Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus could be made available this summer, with it 'almost certain' the club would need to sell before making a move for Livramento.

Interestingly, Livramento shares the same agent as Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, which could work in the Gunners' favour.

There are however, said to be concerns about the defender's injury record. He missed an entire season following a serious knee injury during his time with Southampton.

He's also made 11 starts in all competitions, with knee and hamstring problems this season, returning to action as a second-half substitute in Newcastle's defeat to Man City.
