Arsenal predicted to win Premier League title after double Manchester City slip during run-in

football.london has predicted the final eleven games of the Premier League run-in for Arsenal and Manchester City

Arsenal’s defeat at Manchester City has left the Gunners with a reality they would have hoped to avoid with five games to go: relinquishing control of the title race. Both teams hold their own destiny in their own hands, with goal difference the only decider should the pair win all their remaining Premier League games.

Both also have responsibilities elsewhere with Man City involved in the FA Cup semi-final against Southampton and the Gunners facing Atletico Madrid across two legs in the Champions League semi-final.

Arsenal have played a game more than City, drawing their rearranged clash with Wolves at Molineux earlier in the campaign. City, meanwhile, await two potential rescheduled matches should they reach the FA Cup final, with their trip to Crystal Palace awaiting confirmation, with the Eagles still in UEFA Conference League action.

With that in mind, football.london has given their predictions for the remaining Premier League games left to play for both teams. At its close, it provides the overall picture of who is expected to win the league, according to the incredibly unbiased Arsenal reporter Tom Canton.

Matchday 34 – Arsenal

What a huge week, which will see the first of what could be described as title shootouts take place. Firstly, in midweek, Man City could go top of the table away at Burnley, and I think they will, full of confidence from the win over Arsenal.

However, I think Arsenal could take plenty of encouragement themselves as they face a Newcastle side on a real slide and in a big slump, potentially missing several of their key players like Anthony Gordon, with Joelinton also potentially injured.

FL prediction – Arsenal WIN 3-0. Man City WIN 2-0.

Matchday 35 – Arsenal

A weekend of tough games for both sides. Firstly, Arsenal against a Fulham team they sneaked a 1-0 win over earlier in the season but this time at the Emirates Stadium. Most key is this is the game sandwiched by the Champions League semi-final matches with Atletico Madrid. I think Arsenal will still be on a high after two wins (Newcastle and away to Atletico) and steal this one again.

Man City, meanwhile, this is a game where I think they could yet come unstuck, and a spirited Everton team, managed by a good friend of Mikel Arteta, David Moyes, will see them take a couple of points from them.

FL prediction – Arsenal WIN 2-1. Man City DRAW 1-1.

Matchday 36 - West Ham vs Arsenal

The toughest test of the remaining games for the Gunners, a Hammers side needing every single point, and I think they will get one here too. The London Stadium has not been a happy hunting ground for Arsenal; the difference is that they are hoping that the point is not enough of a blow that costs them overall. Man City too have a very tricky game against Europe-chasing Brentford but I think they will just do it.

FL prediction – Arsenal DRAW 1-1. Man City WIN 1-0.

Rearranged Matchday 31 – Manchester City

The week beginning May 11 looks the best moment for the game between Man City and Crystal Palace to be rearranged so let’s look at this one here. Palace, with their sights on football in Europe, I just struggle to see getting many great results before the season finishes. I hope they prove me wrong, but only in this game.

FL prediction – Man City WIN 3-0.

Matchday 37 – Arsenal

The final home match of the season, which, for many, some would have hoped would be where they’d have been crowned champions. Based on our predictions so far, it would not be possible, but it could yet occur. It is FA Cup final weekend too, meaning if City make it, their trip to Bournemouth could be moved to midweek after this game anyway, and before the final Premier League round of the season. I think the Cherries, who beat Arsenal at the Emirates, will be very tough for Pep Guardiola and could provide the shock of the season.

FL prediction – Arsenal WIN 4-0. Man City LOSE 1-2.

Matchday 38 – Crystal Palace vs Arsenal

Arsenal win the Premier League on the final day, at the former home of Eberechi Eze, who I also predict will be massive during these final games, discovering that he should be used far more on the Gunners’ left-hand side. City will beat an Aston Villa team who will have qualified for next season's Champions League and therefore just roll over, as Unai Emery tends to do in Manchester, but… it will be in vain! (Yes, manifestation is a real thing!)

FL prediction – Arsenal WIN 1-0. Man City WIN 3-0.

Season finale points tally and champions prediction: Arsenal finish as champions on 83 points, +46 goal difference. Man City finish second on 80 points with +44 goal difference.
