football.london predicts the Arsenal team to face Bayern Munich in the Champions League at the Emirates Stadium
Arsenal take on Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League, aiming to secure their fifth consecutive win in the competition. Mikel Arteta welcomed back Martin Odegaard to training ahead of the game but is still without several players.
Viktor Gyokeres, Kai Havertz, Gabriel Magalhaes and Max Dowman, who was surprisingly absent from the session, are all expected to miss the occasion.
With that said, Arteta needs to select a winning formula for the match that can finally get one over an old adversary of theirs. Here is how football.london predicts the Gunners' boss might set up.
David Raya
The Spaniard conceded a goal few believed the Gunners thought Spurs deserved in the North London Derby, and will want to put that right against a Bayern Munich side he conceded three against in 2024 across both quarter-final legs.
Jurrien Timber
The Dutchman has to contend with the replacement for Luis Diaz, who is likely to be Serge Gnabry. However, it has been his work in the final third that has been the most lauded.
William Saliba
The Frenchman will continue on without his typical centre-half partner and did very well against Tottenham. He has the job of dealing better than he did last time with Harry Kane after he gave away a penalty in the previous meeting at this ground.
Piero Hincapie
The Ecuador international impressed greatly during the derby and again gets the chance to establish himself in the role against a top side in European competition as his partnership with Saliba is expanded.
Myles Lewis-Skelly
With Riccardo Calafiori coming off against Spurs with a slight knock, it would make sense for Myles Lewis-Skelly to come in, who impressed when he started against Atletico Madrid.
Martin Zubimendi
The Spaniard continues to anchor the Arsenal midfield brilliantly, besides a dodgy moment that led to Richarlison’s ridiculous lob of David Raya. Zubimendi just needed to release the ball sooner.
Declan Rice
The midfielder managed to become the big game player against Real Madrid last season. Can he repeat that against a side that is arguably Europe's most feared at present?
Eberechi Eze
Who would want to stop the fine form of Eberechi Eze after his hat-trick against Tottenham in the derby? This is the stage he moved to Arsenal for, and now he will hope to continue his goal-scoring against the very best.
Bukayo Saka
Despite not scoring or assisting in the derby, Saka still had a good game and after his goal against Bayern last time around, he might have found another team to build a good record against throughout his career.
Mikel Merino
There is still uncertainty over the centre-forward options for the short term, despite hope that several players could return soon. Merino, however, continues to do a great job and was a standout performer at the weekend.
Leandro Trossard
The Belgian winger has been the most consistently impressive player in the side this month, and he too has the experience of scoring against the German champions.
