Mikel Arteta faces decisions on William Saliba and Viktor Gyokeres' for Arsenal's clash with Wolves
Arsenal take on Wolves in the Premier League's late kick-off on Saturday. After a week in which Mikel Arteta welcomed back Gabriel Jesus, who impressed in Belgium, there are some difficult selection decisions to make.
Arteta also has several players who are in doubt for the game too, which makes it very difficult to consider who may or may not be a shoo-in for the starting eleven. A win would give the Gunners a gap over Manchester City until they face the trip to Crystal Palace.
With there being such an expectation on victory, Arteta needs to choose the right team and football.london gives its view on who they believe will start for the Gunners.
David Raya
The Spaniard made a couple of strong saves in Belgium, helping to keep out yet another clean sheet, making it five from six in the competition so far.
Jurrien Timber
After missing the game with Brugge in midweek, the hope is that the Dutchman can recover to play at the weekend and with the shortness in defence, this will be a significant boost.
William Saliba
Despite being missing for a ‘matter of days’, this has turned into a longer period, but with the Frenchman’s imminent return on the cards, it might be that he finally does make it back.
Piero Hincapie
A good performance in Belgium, hitting the post and defending strongly, in the wake of Gabriel Magalhaes’ absence, the Ecuadorian has done well.
Myles Lewis-Skelly
With Riccardo Calafiori suspended for this game, it is almost nailed on that Myles Lewis-Skelly will be therefore in the role and hope to build up some form.
Declan Rice
Having been ill this week, the England midfielder will hope to have recovered for this weekend and offer Martin Zubimendi some respite in a midfield reshuffle.
Eberechi Eze
Fully rested in midweek, not needing to play a single minute, the midfield takes the shape of what the structure was against West Ham, which was robbed of a real trial when Odegaard came off injured, and Eze can now try again in the left eight role.
Martin Odegaard
Hopefully, the club captain does not get injured in this game, and this midfield structure can be given a chance to flourish. There have also been suggestions that the skipper should be playing higher up and closer to the centre-forward.
Bukayo Saka
Perhaps the freshest Saka has been for a Premier League game in quite some time and will be the natural right-wing starter here on Saturday evening.
Viktor Gyokeres
After another quiet performance in Belgium, playing against the side who have conceded the most in the Premier League should be the perfect platform to give him the boost he needs.
Gabriel Martinelli
After scoring his record-breaking goal in the UEFA Champions League, Gabriel Martinelli is in line to keep his place on the left-hand side for the Gunners this weekend.
