Arsenal's next five Premier League fixtures compared to Man City after Liverpool draw

2 days ago 7

Arsenal were unable to find a way past Liverpool in their Premier League clash with Manchester City ultimately not ruing dropped points

Arsenal failed to capitalise on Manchester City dropping points in the Premier League title race as they drew with Liverpool. Despite the reigning champions' struggle this season, they limited Arsenal to just a few clear-cut chances and were more than deserving of a point.

Conor Bradley had the best chance of a drab first half with a miscommunication between David Raya and William Saliba allowed the Liverpool defender a shot at goal with the former caught off his line, but his lofted effort struck the bar.

Chances were again at a premium in the first half of the second period, though there were some big talking points including Piero Hincapie's injury and penalty incidents involving Gabriel Martinelli and Florian Wirtz, though VAR agreed with the on-field decisions.

Gabriel Jesus, Eberechi Eze, Noni Madueke and Gabriel Martinelli were all thrown on by Mikel Arteta, but no one was able to find the back of the net despite the Brazilian duo forcing Alisson into late saves.

With all of that being said, football.london has compared the upcoming fixture runs for Arsenal and City after disappointing stalemates for both.

Arsenal's next five Premier League fixtures

Nottingham Forest (A) - Jan 17

Manchester United (H) - Jan 25

Leeds United (A) - Jan 31

Sunderland (H) - Feb 7

Brentford (A) - Feb 12

Verdict: Following cup ties away to Portsmouth and Chelsea, Arsenal travel to face a Nottingham Forest side looking to continue momentum after a huge win against West Ham United in the relegation battle.

The Gunners then return to Emirates Stadium with Manchester United as the visitors and they are expected to have an interim head coach in charge for the clash. A challenging fixture against Leeds United at Elland Road follows that before Arsenal face another newly-promoted team in Sunderland.

That clash will with Arsenal also looking to avenge dropping points in the final moments at the Stadium of Light with former academy star Dan Ballard key to the Black Cats taking a share of the spoils.

Mikel Arteta's side do not play on home soil the following midweek but remain in London as they face Brentford.

Manchester City's next five Premier League fixtures

Man United (A) - Jan 17

Wolves (H) - Jan 24

Tottenham (A) - Feb 1

Liverpool (A) - Feb 8

Fulham (H) - Feb 11

Verdict: Manchester City are desperate for a victory having drawn their last three Premier League games. That aim starts in the Manchester derby as Pep Guardiola's side travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United, who are currently without a manager.

Bottom of the table Wolves make the trip to Etihad Stadium the following weekend with three points to be the absolute minimum.

City then have two difficult away fixtures, at least on paper, as they take on Liverpool and Tottenham. Both teams have frequently got the better of City in recent seasons but are in the midst of very challenging seasons. City take on Fulham following that and will be hoping to avoid the chaotic 5-4 win from the reverse fixture.
