Arsenal's next seven fixtures compared to Man City after frustrating Bayer Leverkusen draw

2 hours ago 5

Arsenal have huge Premier League, European and domestic cup games over the coming weeks in their battle for silverware with Manchester City

Arsenal grabbed an important late equaliser in their Champions League last-16 first leg against Bayer Leverkusen. Robert Andrich put the Bundesliga side in front just after half-time but former Leverkusen star Kai Havertz scored a 89th minute penalty to arguably hand the Gunners the advantage in the tie.

Gabriel Martinelli had the best chance of the first half when he struck the bar from close-range after a flowing team move. However, it was Leverkusen that went in front just one minute after the restart with Andrich, who was perhaps fortunate to avoid being sent off early on, heading home an Alejandro Grimaldo corner at the back post.

The Gunners pushed for an equaliser but rarely troubled Janis Blaswich's goal in the second half despite several attacking substitutions from Mikel Arteta. Noni Madueke was one of those that came on and his impact told in the final knockings as he won a penalty with Havertz, who also brought on, converting from 12 yards.

Despite their poor display, it is a good result ahead of the second leg at Emirates Stadium next Tuesday. With all of that being said, football.london has taken a look the upcoming games for both Arsenal and Manchester City as they both compete to win four different competitions.

Arsenal's next seven fixtures in all competitions

Everton (H) - March 14 - Premier League

Bayer Leverkusen (H) - March 17 - Champions League

Manchester City (N) - March 22 - Carabao Cup

Southampton (A) - April 4/5 - FA Cup

Bournemouth (H) - April 11 - Premier League

Man City (A) - April 19 - Premier League

Newcastle (H) - April 25 - Premier League

Verdict: Before the March international break, Arsenal have three big fixtures, with the first of those at home to Everton in the Premier League.

Leverkusen are then in town the following Tuesday with their last-16 tie level and just days later the Gunners can claim a first trophy since 2020 when they meet Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final. Following the two-week domestic pause, Arsenal have a favourable FA Cup quarter-final tie against Southampton.

In the following fortnight after that, Arsenal have three season-defining league games as they host Bournemouth and Newcastle with a huge clash against City in between.

Manchester City's next seven fixtures in all competitions

West Ham (A) - March 14 - Premier League

Real Madrid (H) - March 17 - Champions League

Arsenal (N) - March 22 - Carabao Cup

Liverpool (H) - April 4/5 - FA Cup

Chelsea (A) - April 12 - Premier League

Arsenal (H) - April 19 - Premier League

Burnley (A) - April 26 - Premier League

Verdict: City play Real Madrid twice over the next six days with a trip to West Ham United between those European games as they look to get back into the Premier League title race.

The Carabao Cup final against Arsenal follows that with Pep Guardiola's side then having to face Liverpool in the FA Cup and both Arsenal and Chelsea in the league.

City close out April away at Burnley with that a must-win game if they hope to remain in the title race, regardless of the result the previous week.
