Arsenal 'scout' young talent as Mikel Arteta faces transfer decision after 'bid'

Arsenal have just six days to complete any further deals in the summer transfer window before it reopens in January.

Seven players have joined the club this window, including Eberechi Eze, Viktor Gyokeres, Martin Zubimendi, and Noni Madueke. That brings their spending to over a quarter of a billion pounds, while so far they have only recouped around £7 million.

Jorginho, Kieran Tierney and Thomas Partey all departed on free transfers, while Marquinhos joined Cruzeiro and Nuno Tavares signed for Lazio in deals worth a combined £7m. That said, Fabio Vieira, Jakub Kiwior, Reiss Nelson, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Albert Sambi Lokonga could still generate additional funds before the September 1 deadline.

With that in mind, football.london has taken a look at the latest transfer rumours from in and around the Emirates Stadium.

River Plate talent 'scouted'

According to Spanish outlet Diario AS, Arsenal have dispatched scouts to Buenos Aires to track River Plate starlet Ian Subiabre. The 18-year-old winger is regarded as one of the club’s brightest prospects and has already attracted attention from several European sides.

The report adds that Barcelona are among the clubs ‘closely following’ his development. Subiabre’s representatives - led by Argentine legend Claudio Caniggia - are said to have made multiple trips to Barcelona this year to discuss his future.

The teenager remains under contract with River Plate until December 2026, with a release clause set at around €30m (£26m).

football.london says: "Arsenal’s long-term planning is clear, and scouting Ian Subiabre demonstrates their willingness to invest in young talents and develop them. Doing so could turn him into a top-level star while avoiding the high costs of established players.

"It’s also a strategic investment - if he succeeds, his value could soar both on the pitch and in the transfer market. That said, competition is intense.

"Barcelona are reportedly closely monitoring him, highlighting not only his potential but also the challenge Arsenal face in securing his signature."

Kiwior 'bid'

FC Porto have sent a new proposal to Arsenal for Kiwior, claims Fabrizio Romano. The proposal is said to be a loan with obligation to buy.

Both clubs are set to re-enter discussions after Arsenal rejected a bid from the Portuguese giants for Kiwior back in July. He adds that a potential departure could see Arsenal bring in a new centre back before the September 1 deadline.

football.london says: " Arsenal’s pursuit of Piero Hincapie appears to be moving forward independently of any outgoing transfers, with reports suggesting the club does not need to sell first to complete the deal.

"That said, trimming the squad remains important, particularly for players unlikely to feature prominently under Mikel Arteta. Kiwior seems to fall into that category, having been left out of the squad entirely during Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over Manchester United and listed only as an unused substitute in their clash with Leeds.

"Offloading such players will help free up wages and offer opportunities for new signings, allowing Arteta to streamline the squad and focus on players more central to his plans. Time is running out, though."
