Manchester City trail Arsenal by six points in the Premier League table before Pep Guardiola's side host Brighton and Hove Albion and the Gunners play Liverpool
Erling Haaland has accidentally shared a motivational message that Manchester City have on the wall at their training complex to spur them on to stop Arsenal winning the Premier League title.
The striker revealed a sign that is on display when posing for a photo with Khabib Nurmagomedov. The city invited the former UFC lightweight champion to Manchester, where he met Haaland and also attended Sunday's match against Chelsea.
A 94th-minute equaliser from Enzo Fernandez meant they dropped more points in the Premier League title race. City are now six points behind Arsenal before they host Brighton & Hove Albion on Wednesday night, 24 hours before the Gunners play Liverpool at Emirates Stadium.
However, as the motivational message says, City "don't quit". It reads in full: "The pressure. The chase. The difficulties.
"We've been here before, pushed to the absolute limit and still taking everything. That has always been our spirit.
"We don't fold. We don't panic. We don't quit. We adapt. We respond. We turn setbacks into solutions. We change situations, because that's what we do. We are not weaklings. We are Manchester City Football Club." Haaland captioned his post: "Mentality".
Guardiola has previously spoken at length about his team having a champion mentality. He said during their last Premier League title-winning campaign: "This is the incredible value of these players. These ones and previous ones for the mentality the Club has, absolutely, this is the most.
"They know how difficult it is for them to be consistent for six or seven years. They can be consistent for a month every season, but for six, seven years and still now we are there.
He added: "I never had one season here when everything started perfect. Maybe the year for the 100 points when we started, and we were unstoppable in the Premier League, all the other we have our moments up and down.
"When we decrease a little. We talk and correct, and we come back in our rhythm, and now it's no different."
Arsenal are currently in a commanding position at the halfway stage of this season, but Mikel Arteta is not getting ahead of himself. Speaking before the Bournemouth match, he said: "Well, it's where we are, and we are really happy with the position that we are in.
"It can always be better. There are things to improve obviously, and the only thing we know is that it's always the next game, and we know how tough it is for every opponent to beat them.
"We are still in early January, so we have another five months to go, and so far we have to do much more." Arteta also noted the squad's desire to achieve their goals.
The manager said: "That's what they transmit every single day when they're with us, training or in every match. You can see the desire, you can see the energy they put in, how much they want it, and that's what we need.
"There are still five months to go. Take it day by day, enjoy that process of being where we are and go for it."
