Arsenal were dealt a huge blow to their hopes of winning the Premier League at the weekend, and Mikel Arteta is under pressure to steady the ship
Gabriel Jesus has provided an update on his future. The 29-year-old striker, who came off the bench during the second half of Arsenal's defeat to Bournemouth, still has a year or so left on his contract, but he's already started looking for a new club.
In an interview with Globo Esporte ahead of the clash at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon, Jesus outlined his plan to one day leave north London and return to Palmeiras. He said: "I have a contract with Arsenal.
"Obviously, my situation at Arsenal has changed from what it was before, but my main focus today remains Arsenal, making things happen here, helping in whatever way the manager needs, and then, obviously, when the season is over, we'll start thinking about it."
Jesus made a name for himself as one of the most exciting young players in South America during his time with the Brazilian giants. In August 2016, Manchester City paid £27m, plus add-ons, for the then-19-year-old, securing his signature ahead of several top European clubs.

Then, in July 2022, Arsenal lured Jesus from the Etihad Stadium, wrapping up a deal worth £45m. Despite outlining his desire to join Palmeiras, he's yet to receive an offer.
"I also need to receive an offer from Palmeiras," said the Brazilian. "My relationship with Palmeiras has always been very good and always will be; I have immense gratitude.

"My desire is to one day return to Palmeiras and win even more titles. Because I've already experienced the taste of winning titles at Palmeiras. And it's something that's still within me, it's a very strong desire."
Jesus has already spoken to the Abel Ferreira at length. On the Palmeiras boss, the Arsenal striker said: "He is truly the greatest coach in Palmeiras' history, not only because of titles, but because normally we see so many coaches who go to Brazil, win one or two titles and leave, using it as a stepping stone.
"Abel is different, totally different, the identification he has with Palmeiras is very strong," added Jesus. "I had the opportunity to talk to him for more than an hour a couple of times when I went to train at Palmeiras.
"We always had a good conversation, about football and about life in general. He's a guy who cares a lot. I believe that Palmeiras will once again fight for titles. Unfortunately, they didn't win any last year."
Jesus helped Palmeiras win the Copa do Brasil in 2015, as well as the Brasileirão in 2016, ending a 22-year drought. He said: "Personally, I don't consider myself an idol of Palmeiras.
"I wasn't there for very long. I won two titles. Obviously, we're talking about the 2016 Brazilian Championship, a championship the club hadn't won in a long time, and I had a very big impact. Nobody wins a championship alone.
"I don't even come close to the guys who have been at Palmeiras for many years, who are winning titles every year. Maybe the fans have a lot of affection for that moment.
"I even joked with [Raphael] Veiga once, posting 'The youth academy product and the Verdão idol.' Because I really consider myself that way. We achieved something very good, it has a certain relevance for a turning point for Palmeiras.
"But I think that to be an idol of a club requires many factors, not just two titles or something like that. Just having the affection of the club, of the people who work at the club, of many fans, already makes me happy."
