Arsenal transfer latest: Forward says his goodbyes as Gunners set for £86m 'bidding war'

2 days ago 3

Arsenal are yet to make any new signings ahead of the final day of the January transfer window but their summer spending has helped them lead the Premier League

Arsenal are leading the Premier League as the January transfer window draws to a close. With the Gunners going well on all fronts, the club have not made any new signings ahead of deadline day.

Mikel Arteta's team rebounded from a home loss to Manchester United with a resounding 4-0 victory against Leeds United at Elland Road on Saturday. This marked the Gunners' 16th win of the current top-flight season.

With the January window nearing its end and deadline day looming, Arsenal have kept a low profile in terms of transfers. A few young players, including Ethan Nwaneri, have been loaned out, but no money has been spent on new acquisitions.

However, reports from Germany suggest that Arteta's side could be on the brink of a costly bidding war. football.london brings you the latest transfer news from the Emirates.

Arsenal set to 'enter £86m bidding war'

Despite boasting one of the Premier League's most formidable frontlines, German publication BILD reports that Arsenal are among several clubs interested in RB Leipzig prodigy Yan Diomande.

Diomande, one of Europe's most highly-rated young forwards, was signed by Leipzig in 2025 from La Liga outfit Leganes. His blistering pace has since attracted attention from other European heavyweights. According to BILD, Liverpool and Manchester United, along with Bayern Munich, are also keeping tabs on the Ivorian starlet alongside Arsenal.

The Bundesliga giants are said to be increasingly frustrated by the prospect of entering a bidding war with English sides, as RB Leipzig are expected to demand in excess of £86million for Diomande. Bayern reportedly view this valuation as excessive.

Where Diomande ultimately lands remains to be seen, though a January switch appears improbable, with a summer transfer the more likely scenario.

Forward bids farewell

On the departures front, a young striker has announced his exit from Arsenal via social media. Osman Kamara arrived at the Emirates ahead of the 2014/15 season and has remained with the club throughout.

The forward, who previously played for the same Sunday League team as Sol Campbell, represents Sierra Leone at youth international level.

During the 2023/24 season, he reached double figures in the academy. Despite regularly featuring in first-team training sessions in recent times, he has now departed the club.

He announced the decision on social media and the youngster posted: "After 10 years at Arsenal, it's time to take the next step in my career.

"I am grateful towards every staff member, coach and the club that nurtured me," added Kamara, who signed his first professional contract with the Gunners in 2024. "Excited for what's to come!"
