Arsenal are not expected to make any major signings in the January transfer window, but sporting director Andrea Berta is already drawing up plans for the summer with Ethan Nwaneri set to stay
Arsenal appear unlikely to make any significant signings or sales during the January transfer window. Sporting director Andrea Berta orchestrated several high-profile transfers last summer, putting the Gunners in a strong position, but potential market opportunities could alter their approach for this month
Antoine Semenyo was one such chance, but the decision was made not to pursue him during this trading period, allowing Manchester City to swoop in and sign him from Bournemouth. Marc Guehi, currently at Crystal Palace, is another player linked with both Arsenal and Pep Guardiola's team.
Before considering new arrivals, Arsenal will likely focus on facilitating departures, even if only on loan. Ethan Nwaneri was one player potentially facing this situation, but that is no longer the case.
While there may not be much activity in north London, other Premier League clubs have been busy, including a move for a former Arsenal star. With all this in mind, football.london has rounded up the latest Arsenal transfer news and rumours.
Nwaneri transfer stance
Bournemouth and West Ham United have both been linked with Nwaneri, but football.london understands that he is not available for loan.
Nwaneri featured in Arsenal's FA Cup third round victory over Portsmouth, marking his first game time since early December.
Speaking about his performance and patience, Arteta commented: "Well, that he deserves that, basically. Obviously, because of the strength of the squad and the players that are in the position, he hasn't been able to play and today he's done it. And I think he had some very good minutes."
Despite his limited game time prior to last weekend, it's understood that Arsenal don't view a temporary departure for the versatile forward as necessary.
Berta January priority
Although Arsenal aren't currently planning January transfers, with that in regards to both incomings and exits, it appears set to be a hectic month for Berta.
According to The Athletic, the Gunners are already formulating plans for next summer's transfer window.
Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi could certainly be among those targets, alongside Real Madrid's Rodrygo, AC Milan's Rafael Leao and Juventus talent Kenan Yildiz as potential options for a blockbuster wide forward acquisition.
Former Arsenal star on the move
Donyell Malen is edging closer to swapping Aston Villa for AS Roma, according to The Telegraph. Reports suggest a deal is poised to be finalised as an initial loan with a £25million obligation to buy attached.
He has featured 29 times this season, netting seven goals and providing two assists. His departure appears to be driven purely by footballing considerations, with his ambition to play as a striker unlikely to be consistently fulfilled at Villa Park.
The Dutch attacker is an Arsenal academy graduate who later showcased his skills for PSV and Ajax back in the Netherlands. Malen then made a move to Borussia Dortmund, spending three-and-a-half years on German soil before joining Unai Emery's squad in January 2025.
