Arsenal's weekend opponents Wolves will travel to the Emirates Stadium with their own injury concerns after Rob Edwards was handed a significant blow ahead of the weekend.

The Gunners are suffering from major injury problems in defence going into the game. Mikel Arteta is currently without William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes and Cristhian Mosquera, with Jurrien Timber also a doubt for the game.

Leandro Trossard and Declan Rice are also concerns, though the latter could return against Wolves. Saturday evening's visitors are enduring their worst-ever start to a Premier League campaign, with them sitting rock bottom of the Premier League on just two points.

Monday night's loss to Manchester United was Wolves' 13th in 15 games, and they are on course to break Derby County's unwanted record for the lowest total points tally - currently 11 points.

Edwards, who has lost all four of his first games in charge at Molineux, is facing the prospect of being without five first-team players for the trip to north London. On Friday, the former Middlesbrough boss confirmed that midfielder Jean-Ricner Bellegarde, who scored in the defeat to United, will miss the rest of the year.

"He picked up a hamstring injury, so we are looking at six or more weeks," Edwards confirmed. The injury comes after Marshall Munetsi was sidelined for a number of weeks with a calf problem.

Rodrigo Gomes remains out after surgery on his groin and goalkeeper David Bentley is also unavailable. Fortunately, Wolves will have Joao Gomes out after the Brazilian missed the United defeat due to suspension.

Despite Wolves' poor season and Arsenal being heavy favourites for Saturday's contest, Arteta has insisted his team will treat the game like any other. Asked if there's a danger of apathy around the place, he answered: "Always.

"In any Premier League match and especially against a team that is fighting against results. I know the manager really well and how he's going to push and get the players ready to do that. So from our side, we're going to go full gas from the beginning because we know what we have to do."

Rice missed the win over Club Brugge in the Champions League, but Arteta revealed on Friday that he is optimistic that he will be OK for the weekend. "Let's see how he goes today, he was ill," Arteta said. "Normally in a few days, but let's see how he gets on."

Timber was also absent in Belgium, despite travelling. "It depends on how he feels today," Arteta explained. "It was a knock that he picked [up] and he wasn't feeling comfortable."
