Aston Villa are seriously considering a bid for Tottenham hero in January window

Aston Villa have a firm eye on one forgotten Tottenham Hotspur star ahead of the January transfer window.

A number of outlets have claimed over the past few weeks that Tottenham are willing to cash in on Brennan Johnson for the right price in January.

The winger, who was Spurs’ top scorer with 18 goals last season, has fallen down Thomas Frank’s pecking order and has found game time hard to come by.

It was initially reported that Crystal Palace are leading the race for Johnson, and it has subsequently emerged over the last few days that Aston Villa and Bournemouth could challenge Palace for the Spurs winger.

Aston Villa’s stance on Tottenham winger Brennan Johnson revealed

According to TEAMtalk, Villa are now seriously weighing up entering the race for the former Nottingham Forest star in the January window.

The report says that Unai Emery’s men are considering ways to strengthen their squad in January and want to add depth to their forward line.

They are looking at players who are proven in the Premier League, with Johnson’s profile fitting the bill for the Midlands club.

The outlet asserts that Villa will show interest in the 24-year-old if Tottenham show a genuine openness to selling the player in the upcoming transfer window.

Spurs have not yet made a final decision on Johnson

TEAMtalk say that no final decision has been made at the North London club over the Wales international’s future.

However, it is revealed that Spurs will receive enquiries from interested clubs in January to better understand the situation before taking a call.

This follows a recent update by journalist Greame Bailey, who suggested that Tottenham could be open to loaning out Johnson in January in the belief that he can attract even bigger offers next summer.
