Ayden Heaven has enjoyed first-team opportunities at Old Trafford since his transfer from Arsenal
Ayden Heaven previously hyped up Manchester United's tradition for giving young players opportunities amid reports linking Myles Lewis-Skelly with a transfer to Old Trafford.
The 19-year-old enjoyed a breakout season last year when making 39 appearances across all competitions for the Gunners and established himself as a regular for both club and country.
However, his progression was halted this campaign with just 27 appearances to his name and without game-time in the Premier League since Arsenal's 0-0 draw with Liverpool in January.
football.london understands sales are a priority for Arsenal this summer with only a select number of players in the squad considered “unsellable”. It means that, should United or any other club make an offer for Lewis-Skelly that meets their valuation, the youngster could well depart at the end of the season.
United enjoy a storied history of featuring young players and platforming them to greatness with Heaven, 19, the latest recipient of the club's faith in youngsters. The defender has racked up 16 games for United this season, including eight starts in the league.
His £1million move from north London to Manchester was sealed last February and after his debut campaign this past summer, he opened up about his decision to join the Red Devils. The teenager explained to MUTV: "The opportunities that the young players have got here in the past.
"I think United had the most minutes given to teenagers last season [2023/24]. That convinced me to come here. And the people and the fans here are quite loving, and I felt that when I was playing. They’re so supportive."
Citing Ruben Amorim's words and style of play as a reason for joining United, Heaven added: "He just said that our play style will suit me, because they play three at a back and I play on the left of the three, so that allows me to run with the ball."
While United play a different type of football under Michael Carrick than he was initially accustomed to, Heaven's self-professed strengths will only benefit the club. He continued: "That's one of my strengths. And defending out wide is one of my strengths as well."

Currently behind Piero Hincapie and Riccardo Calafiori at the left-back position, Lewis-Skelly's lack of action was lamented by Ian Wright who insisted the versatile star should have featured in Arsenal's Carabao Cup final defeat at the hands of Manchester City.
He said on The Overlap: "I’ve mentioned Myles Lewis-Skelly when he played against Real Madrid last time, had an unbelievable game. Then he’s kind of been dropped back out of it, and I’m thinking in that game, on Sunday, a left-back who can invert what we need is somebody comfortable on the ball.
"That’s the game he should be playing in, because then he’s somebody who can get on the ball, and at least we can link."
