Liverpool center back Ibrahima Konaté is entering the final year of his contract and has yet to sign an extension, leaving questions about his long-term future at Anfield.

PSG and Real Madrid are reportedly monitoring the situation closely and could make a move if no agreement is reached before the January transfer window.

Foot Mercato reports that Konaté has even been offered to several elite European clubs—including PSG, Real Madrid, and Barcelona—suggesting a transfer may be on the table as his deal runs down.

Still, Real Madrid and Barcelona may have their eyes on another center back who is also set to become a free agent next summer.

Former Manchester United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that the 25-year-old Marc Guehi is drawing strong interest because of his contract situation. With under a year left on his contract, the England international can begin talks over a pre-contract with foreign clubs in January.

“Marc Guehi is entitled to assess all of his options,” Brown told Football Insider. “I have heard that the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona could come in for him on a free transfer if he’s going to become available in January. Those types of clubs are always going to be considered because they’re huge, huge clubs.

“He thought Liverpool was the right move for him, he wanted to go there and win trophies. I would be very surprised if his stance has changed on that, regardless of who else comes in for him.

“So I think Liverpool will still be the front runners to sign him, that’s the move he wanted to make and everything has already been agreed between them. It’ll have to be something we revisit closer to the time, because things can change quickly in football.”
