Bayern Munich fear Tottenham may swap one of their players for another

Bayern Munich have an interesting worry ahead of the summer transfer window after Tottenham Hotspur decided to sack Thomas Frank.

Frank’s exit may change a lot of the Lilywhites’ calculations of the summer window, which is still several months away.

Spurs would have to decide who their next permanent manager would be before they can finalise their summer plans, with Mauricio Pochettino appearing to be the front-runner at the moment.

The departure of Frank has reportedly caused some uncertainty over the future of an experienced midfielder, who arrived in North London last summer.

Bayern Munich remain hopeful Spurs will buy Joao Palhinha

A few days ago, TEAMtalk claimed that Tottenham are no longer certain to activate the £22m option to buy Joao Palhinha after Frank’s exit.

The outlet revealed that it was the Danish coach who pushed for the 30-year-old to be signed, and his exit may thus cause a change in thinking at N17.

A new report in Sport BILD (as relayed by Sport Witness) shares the same worries about how the former Brentford boss’s departure from Spurs could affect their plans on the Portuguese star.

They say that the change in management at Tottenham has put Palhinha’s future in question, but the outlet reveals that Bayern are hopeful that the Premier League side will still activate the purchase option.

However, there are worries at the Bavarian club that Spurs may decide to move for another one of their players instead of the former Fulham man.

Tottenham could move for Leon Goretzka instead of Palhinha

The concern at Bayern is regarding the availability of Leon Goretzka, who will leave Allianz Arena when his contract runs out this summer.

SportBild backs up what we have heard from other sources by stating that Tottenham are one of the English clubs eyeing a move for the German international.

Goretzka is thought to prefer a move to the Premier League, raising the possibility that Spurs will dodge having to pay a fee for Palhinha and secure the other Bayern midfielder on a free transfer instead.
