Bayern Munich Get Terrible News Over Interest in Chelsea Target With PSG Clause

Chelsea look set to sign 22-year-old Xavi Simons, who left PSG earlier this year, though Manchester City are also said to be chasing the talented midfielder. No matter where he ends up, PSG stand to make a healthy profit from the deal.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that Leipzig have agreed to an €80 million move for Simons, with €55 million paid upfront. The Dutch midfielder is under contract until June 2027, and PSG inserted a sell-on clause to guarantee a cut of any future transfer fees.

It’s a tactic that’s already paying off. Adam Crafton of The Athletic reported that PSG recently collected €17 million (£15 million) from Hugo Ekitiké’s transfer to Liverpool through a similar arrangement.

Bayern Munich have recently made concrete inquiries about Simons, but a deal appears highly unlikely for several reasons. The main factor is that Simons is fully focused on joining Chelsea. A verbal agreement with the club is already in place and considered 100 percent done, though the two clubs have yet to finalize terms.

Manchester City are not involved at this stage, and Chelsea remain patient in their pursuit, with the deal still alive. Simons’ salary at RB Leipzig could climb to €14 million gross if all bonuses are met.
