Ben White forced off injured in cruel Arsenal blow as Mikel Arteta crisis worsens

5 hours ago 3

Mikel Arteta was forced to take off Ben White during the first half of Arsenal's clash against Wolves on Saturday night. The 28-year-old right-back appeared to suffer a muscle problem after racing back to defend a counter-attack.

Shortly before the half-hour mark, the Gunners were caught outnumbered at the back, gifting Hwang Hee-chan a free-run at David Raya. White chased down the Wolves striker and, in doing so, he sustained a hamstring injury.

The Arsenal defender, who's only recently returned from a spell on the sidelines, was spotted clutching the back of his thigh after slamming on the brakes. White went down and Robert Jones invited medical staff onto the pitch.

After receiving some treatment, he climbed to his feet and was replaced by Myles Lewis-Skelly. As it stands, the severity of the problem remains unknown and Arteta will be expected to provide an update in his post-match press conference.
