Benjamin Sesko's 'true feelings' on Arsenal transfer saga as Viktor Gyokeres talks continue

4 hours ago 21

Benjamin Sesko is not disappointed by Arsenal 's decision to abandon their pursuit to sign him, according to the latest reports.

The Gunners appeared primed to land the RB Leipzig striker this summer, as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his forward line ahead of the new season. In the early weeks of the window, widespread reports suggested Sesko was the primary target for the position, owing to his age profile and high potential.

However, the saga took a dramatic turn last week when it emerged that Arsenal are now pursuing Sporting's Viktor Gyokeres, having agreed personal terms with the player, who is said to be desperate to complete a move to North London. While negotiations with the Portuguese club over a fee are rumoured to be ongoing, all indications suggest Gyokeres will eventually become an Arsenal player.

A report from The Independent last week claimed that difficulties in finalising a deal for Sesko prompted Andrea Berta to move on to alternative targets. It stated that Arsenal were still €10m short of Leipzig’s valuation of the 22-year-old, and that the overall structure of the proposed deal was considered unfavourable.

Now, Bundesliga journalist Christian Falk, writing for Caught Offside, reports that Sesko will not be left disappointed by the developments, despite missing out on a move to a European giant. The striker only signed a new contract with his current club 12 months ago, and is already earning an improved wage.

The report adds that Sesko is content with the idea of remaining at the Red Bull Arena, as he is confident a transfer will happen eventually, whether this summer or in the years ahead. At 22, time is on his side, and he is prepared to wait for the right move.

Arsenal have already had a busy summer, securing the signings of Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi, and Christian Norgaard. News also broke on Friday night that the Gunners are closing in on a deal to sign Chelsea's Noni Madueke, while both Gyokeres and Crystal Palace attacker Eberechi Eze continue to be linked.
