Tottenham Hotspur may have finally found the creativity they have been craving following a standout display from Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma against Brighton and Hove Albion.
Roberto De Zerbi will most certainly have been pleased with several aspects of his side’s display against an in-form Brighton side on Saturday evening.
Tottenham were much more solid in different aspects of their game, and that improvement saw them score two goals and take the lead twice against the Seagulls.
However, they were disappointingly pegged back late on by Georginio Rutter after a costly error from Kevin Danso, forcing Tottenham to settle for a 2-2 draw. Nonetheless, it is a performance Spurs can build on, and De Zerbi has several players to thank for their display.

Tottenham midfield boost as Rodrigo Bentancur impresses
We have highlighted five players we believe must start against Wolves this weekend if Tottenham are to secure a victory.
Amongst our picks was Rodrigo Bentancur, who was superb for Spurs in the game against Brighton, putting in a top display despite only just returning from injury after being out for three months.
The Uruguayan brought composure to the centre of the field, just as Spurs fans had predicted he would with his display against Brighton.
A look at his underlying numbers only strengthens how good Bentancur’s performance was. According to stats from SofaScore, he managed a pass accuracy of 85.7 per cent from his 51 touches.
Not only that, but Bentancur contributed in several other aspects of his game, putting in four tackles, making 12 defensive contributions and winning 5/6 ground duels.
Rodrigo Bentancur vs Brighton stats
| Defensive contributions | 12 |
| Successful dribbles | 1/1 (100%) |
| Passes into final third | 2 |
| Dispossessed | 0 |
| Tackles | 4 |
| Clearances | 2 |
| Interceptions | 2 |
| Recoveries | 4 |
| Ground duels won | 5/6 (83%) |
Yves Bissouma impact highlights Spurs midfield balance
Alongside him was Yves Bissouma, who came into the clash against Brighton in similar conditions, having been absent for quite some time.
Still, he was also immense in his performance, as he shielded the back four of Tottenham while also being capable on the ball.
He managed fewer touches than Bentancur with 29, but he had a pass accuracy of 91.7%. The influence of the two players, and the care they showed on the ball, no doubt prevented Spurs from conceding too many chances.
Brighton had just two big chances all game, with one of their goals coming from a brilliant volley from Kaoru Mitoma and the other from a Spurs mistake.
Given how impressive the pair were, we would not be surprised if De Zerbi turns to them again against Wolves this weekend.
