Bournemouth star says Arsenal atmosphere helping opponents as title charge falters

Bournemouth midfielder Tyler Adams has spoken about how the tense atmosphere from nervous Arsenal fans at Emirates Stadium helped the Cherries secure a 2-1 Premier League victory

Tyler Adams claims Bournemouth drew encouragement from the anxious Emirates Stadium crowd during their recent 2-1 triumph at Arsenal. The Cherries produced a shock result at the Emirates a week-and-a-half ago to blow the title race wide open.

Goals from Eli Kroupi Jr and Alex Scott secured a memorable victory for Andoni Iraola's side, and a damaging loss for Mikel Arteta's. Arsenal have subsequently endured a second consecutive Premier League loss against Manchester City, who have virtually eliminated the advantage their title rivals held at the top.

As speculation intensifies over Arsenal potentially squandering a golden chance to claim their first domestic crown in over 20 years, Adams has reflected on the mood inside the Emirates Stadium.

"You could tell early on when they tried to play from the back that there was a sense of nervousness," the United States international said on the Men in Blazers podcast.

"It just takes one little error or one little mistake and the fans get a little bit nervy. That's a difficult atmosphere to play in and thrive in when you're trying to chase a championship.

"We talk about them like they're not still sitting first in the table. As the opposition, it's the best thing to hear."

Manchester City possess a golden chance to draw level on points with Arsenal. They would even leapfrog them on goal difference if they win their game in hand against Burnley by more than one goal.

Declan Rice was spotted rallying his Arsenal team-mates in the immediate aftermath of Sunday's match, insisting the title race was "not done." Pep Guardiola said he absolutely loved that message from the England midfielder, saying: "I love that. I love that. That's why Arsenal is there.

"I saw it [on Monday] and it shows what Declan Rice means. That's the Arsenal mentality, we've faced it in the Premier League these [past] seasons and in the Carabao Cup, how competitive they are.

"Otherwise they can't have done the season they have done in the Premier League being there and being unbeaten in the Champions League, as you have Mikel [Arteta] but also these type of players that follow the message.

"And in the bad moments, they have the resilience [to say] we are there, we are there. That is a good example for us what we're going to face in the six games, five games [for them] in the title race."
