Arsenal have confirmed that goalkeeper Karl Hein has joined Werder Bremen on loan for the 2025/26 season. This will be the 23-year-old's third temporary move away from Emirates Stadium after spells with Real Valladolid and Reading
A club statement, confirming his latest move, read: "Karl Hein has joined Bundesliga side Werder Bremen on a season-long loan."
"The 23-year-old goalkeeper joined us from his hometown club, Nomme United, in June 2018 and went on to sign his first professional contract with us the following year. Karl’s first-team debut came in November 2022, when we played Brighton & Hove Albion in the Carabao Cup third round at Emirates Stadium.
"An Estonia international with 39 senior appearances for his country, Karl spent the 2024/25 campaign on loan with La Liga side Real Valladolid, where he made 32 appearances in all competitions. Karl had also previously spent time on loan in the Championship with Reading, where he made five appearances during the 2021/22 season.
"Everyone at Arsenal wishes Karl all the best for this season with Werder Bremen. The loan deal is subject to the completion of regulatory processes." This is not quite the transfer announcement many Arsenal fans will have been expecting this evening with Eberechi Eze having completed a medical earlier today.
This is a breaking story. We will have more information as and when it develops.
