Arsenal have confirmed the signings of Ecuadorian twins Edwin and Holger Quintero. As football.london reported, they will both join in 2027 upon turning 18 with hope there will be swift progression into the senior team.
The Gunners confirmed in a statement that they will be "closely collaborating" with Independiente del Valle until the duo officially join. The signings are seen as a real coup with Arsenal having invested heavily into the South American market for both talent and scouting, football.london understands.
Aa a further testament to that duo have been described as 'new Ronaldinho's' by Burbano, who previously coached the Quintero brothers.
He told EL COMERCIO: "People pay to see good football. They're going to give you spectacular plays. They're like Ronaldinho. Juggling, step-overs, whatever you can imagine, but they have to know when; first think about the team and then about that."
Edwin, who is a a skilful right winger, has also drawn comparisons to Neymar having impressed and the under-15 and under-17s South American Championships. Holger can also play out wide but prefers to be deployed in central areas.
The two 16-year-old's will stay in Ecuador until August 2027 but Burbano has suggested that both should look to learn English before moving after they both officially turn 18.
Burbano added: "Europe is getting two gems with unique natural abilities, but if they nurture their mental, psychological, and educational development, they will also be a sensation and bring us much joy.
"Why not consider that they could pursue a short degree? Why not start learning English now? Going to Europe at 18 with fluent English would be spectacular."
