Crystal Palace have been dumped out of the FA Cup by National League North side Macclesfield. The holders were beaten 2-1 by John Rooney's side with captain Paul Dawson and Isaac Buckley-Ricketts on target either side of half-time while Yeremy Pino grabbed a late consolation goal.

The Eagles and Macclesfield are separated by 117 places in the football pyramid with it the first time in just over 125 years that the holders have been knocked out by non-league opposition.

Following the final whistle, jubilant supporters headed onto the pitch with Rooney spotted in tears as he took in the achievement.

Oliver Glasner had opted to leave Jean-Phillipe Mateta back in London, but did name first-team stars such as Marc Guehi, Chris Richards and Adam Wharton in his starting XI. Brennan Johnson and Will Hughes also came on at half-time, but were unable to make a lasting impact.

It has been an extremely challenging few months for Palace with injury problems and some awful form seeing them drop down the Premier League table and miss out on qualification straight into the Conference League last-16.

Palace are now nine games without a victory as rumours increase on the futures of Marc Guehi and Glasner at Selhurst Park. The former was captured by TNT Sports speaking to those in the away end with it entirely possible it could be his final match for the club.

Glasner said earlier this month: "I'm not naive. If a massive offer comes from City and Marc wants to do it, it will happen. If you're just valuing sports, everyone in the club will say Marc has to stay. The chairman will tell you the same. But it's not one-dimensional. If you see the financial situation, it's very important.

"If somebody comes, there will be a moment when the club says 'now the financial issue is more important than the sports issue'.

"There will be a threshold where the club has to say it will happen - as long as Marc says 'I want to leave', because the final decision is always with the player."
