Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler has admitted he wants to see Mohamed Salah playing for Liverpool as he takes his side to Anfield.
The Reds host the Seagulls, with both sides level on 23 points in the Premier League table and sitting three points off the top four. For Liverpool though, there hasn’t been much talk about their position ahead of the game.
Instead, it’s Salah’s future that has been dominating the headlines following his outburst against his own club and head coach Arne Slot, having claimed that Liverpool has thrown him “under the bus” and suggested someone is trying to drive him out.
Having been left out of the traveling squad for the midweek trip to Inter Milan, Salah faces showdown talks with Slot ahead of the game, in which it will be communicated to him whether he will be brought back into the fold for Saturday’s game.
Salah has already suggested that tomorrow could be his final appearance for Liverpool, although the club is not planning on turning it into a farewell for him. With the 33-year-old heading to the Africa Cup of Nations after the game though, it is possible that he could secure a transfer away before he’s due to return to Merseyside.
Whether he will feature tomorrow, and whether it will be his last game for the Reds, looks as though it might hinge on Salah’s talks with Slot then, with Hurzeler making his feelings clear when speaking during his press conference.
"We always want to face the best players, the best teams,” Hurzeler said when asked about the Salah saga.
“We try to go for this challenge, to be honest, we don't have any idea how Liverpool will play with which players that will face us, which formation.”
Pushed further on the row, Hurzeler added: "It's about us, focusing on our principles, our style of play. We go there, we know no matter which situation Liverpool is it will be a big challenge, so we try to face it and we try to win this game."

Brighton will be aiming to boost its own European aspirations and open up a gap between itself and Liverpool when it visits Anfield tomorrow. The Seagulls are once again in the conversation for an impressive finish this season, although one point from their last two games against Aston Villa and West Ham have hampered their hopes.
"We have also been up and down this season, so I think at the moment there are maybe two clubs in the league who have consistency,” Hurzeler added.
"All the others are fighting against each other; it is quite competitive and Liverpool is part of that.
"Every game there is an opportunity for us to win it and every game we prove this season we can beat other teams."
