Darren Fletcher and Ally McCoist were in stitches at the appearance of one Brighton supporter in the away section at Anfield on Saturday, as Liverpool progressed to the fifth round of the FA Cup

One Brighton fan went viral after watching the whole of the fourth-round FA Cup tie against Liverpool with a Seagull mask on
One Brighton & Hove Albion fan’s exploits at Anfield have gone viral after an away supporter was seen wearing a seagull mask throughout the entirety of Saturday’s FA Cup fourth-round tie against Liverpool.
The unusual facade meant the fan is not identifiable, but their appearance throughout the match became a regular reference among TNT Sports’ coverage, with commentators Darren Fletcher and Ally McCoist finding it particularly amusing.
The fan in question was first picked up by TV cameras at the end of the first half, but regularly popped up during the game, with Fletcher and McCoist going through their reel of seagull-based gags.

Each time the cameras flicked to the Seagull-clad supporter, they were still wearing the peculiar headpiece.
TNT presenter Laura Woods also chuckled when the fan featured in the broadcasters brief match clips after full-time, with pundits Steve McManaman and Adam Lallana also laughing at their bizarre appearance.
Eye holes in the beak seemed to allow some of sight of the match, although the supporter may have wanted to look away during the second half as Liverpool romped to a comfortable victory.
The Seagulls (on the pitch) started on the frontfoot, but it was Liverpool who grew in ascendancy as the first half continued. In the 42nd minute, Curtis Jones tapped in the opening goal, as the academy graduate converted Milos Kerkez’s excellent back-post cross.
From there, Brighton’s chances of progressing to the fifth round took flight. Fabian Hurzeler’s side offered little resistance in the second period, particularly after Dominik Szoboszlai rocketed in a second 11 minutes after the restart.

The Hungarian finished first time after he was teed up by Mohamed Salah’s inch-perfect pass.
Salah, putting in one his best performances of the season, made it 3-0 soon after. He earned a penalty following a mazy run into the box, and he duly converted it to ensure it was a straightforward end at Anfield.
There could have been more goals had strikes from Cody Gakpo and Rio Ngumoha not been disallowed for offside.
And after a one-sided affair, for some, the game’s most memorable moment was the unusually attired Brighton fan, who, at the very least, will have hoped to stop for a few chips during his long journey south.
