PSG midfielder Carlos Soler, who spent last season on loan at West Ham United, did not extend his stay with the London club beyond the original deal, though there remains interest in the veteran midfielder.

Soler joined West Ham last summer seeking regular playing time and a fresh start. The Hammers secured him on deadline day despite competition from multiple clubs.

By February, a report from Claret and Hugh suggested West Ham were unlikely to trigger the option to buy in the loan agreement. The transfer fee, just under €20 million, didn’t block the move—Soler’s high wages made a permanent deal too expensive.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that Real Sociedad view Soler as a serious option this summer. Talks between the clubs are ongoing, with the player also interested in the move. Romano’s report doesn’t give a potential price. Nonetheless, Transfermarkt puts the 28-year-old’s transfer value at €18 million.

Back in Spain, Villarreal are also expected to reignite their pursuit of Soler. Born in Valencia, the midfielder came through the ranks at local rivals Valencia CF before moving to PSG in 2022.
