Bukayo Saka reveals moment that shows Arsenal can win the Premier League title

Arsenal have already amassed a four-point lead at the top of the Premier League table and Bukayo Saka believes that his team can go all the way after a decisive moment

Bukayo Saka says that Arsenal's comeback win at Newcastle proved to him that they're ready to win the Premier League title. The Gunners made the trip to St James' Park in September, where they'd lost on their last three visits, having dropped points in two of their previous three league games.

Arsenal were staring down the barrel of another loss before Mikel Merino's header levelled the scores and sparked a dramatic turnaround. The Gunners weren't done there, however, as Gabriel Magalhaes rose highest at a corner and powered home a 96th-minute winner.

The victory has helped Mikel Arteta's side establish a commanding four-point lead at the top of the table, and Saka knows how crucial the result was. "In the past, those type of games, Newcastle away, we've never really got a good result and this year we did," the Arsenal star told Sky Sports.

Saka isn't getting ahead of himself, though, having been part of three title races but never getting his hands on the trophy. "I think it's a bit early to talk about 'our year'," the England international explained.

"We're still in October. Of course, I've been in a title race for the last three years now, finished second in all of them... What I've learned is that now is not so important. It's in April, that's when you need to be there and try and be (in) first place.

"Now it's about staying in and around it, building your momentum and then going on a run of performances. It's still a bit early to talk about winning the title based off a few results that in the past haven't gone our way."

Saka's manager echoed that sentiment but understands why there's so much excitement surrounding Arsenal's title charge. "We are where we are," Arteta said when previewing Wednesday's Carabao Cup tie at home to Brighton. "It's a credit to us because we've been very consistent, but knowing the difficulty of every match as well."

"It is early, so it doesn't mean anything other than let's keep doing a lot of things that we're doing really well, but there are things to improve to give us better margins as well."

The Gunners boss added: "I think when our people are excited and when we see that the team is competing at the level, consistently, they are the right reasons to believe, and that's the main thing.

"You want to win big trophies, you certainly have to install that feeling amongst the team, the club and around it, and we're in a really good position at the moment, but we know how early it is and how difficult every game is."
