Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of a highly-rated German international may be about to get harder ahead of the summer window.
Despite adding Conor Gallagher to their squad in January, most Spurs fans will agree that the midfield department is still in need of major reinforcements in the summer transfer window.
Even though Tottenham have not yet guaranteed their Premier League status and we are still months away from the transfer window, it appears that Spurs have already started assessing various potential midfield additions.
Over recent weeks, reports have suggested that Tottenham are plotting a move for a midfielder who played against them in the Champions League this season.

Nmecha could get a new deal at Borussia Dortmund
According to some sources, Felix Nmecha is seen as the ideal addition to their midfield engine room by Tottenham.
A report from TEAMtalk has now confirmed that Borussia Dortmund are now facing mounting pressure to fend off interest from the Premier League in the 25-year-old, with Tottenham one of those interested.
The Bundesliga club are open to selling Nmecha for €70m (£61m) this summer, but they are also making steps to protect their asset.
It is revealed that Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl has initiated talks with the midfielder over a new deal.
The German club are prepared to offer the player a significant hike on his current £5.2m per year salary to keep him at the club.
Tottenham are behind in the race for Nmecha
TEAMtalk reveal that apart from Spurs, two other Premier League clubs are also showing interest in the Dortmund star.
Manchester City and Manchester United have both also identified Nmecha as a target ahead of the summer window.
In fact, the report reveals that City have now moved into pole position in the transfer race to sign the youngster, who came through their academy ranks before moving to Germany.
Pep Guardiola is said to be keen on reuniting with Nmecha, whose representatives have already been contacted by the Cityzens.
