Burnley could be missing as many as six players against Liverpool on Sunday, although Scott Parker’s side has been handed a boost following the international break.
Arne Slot’s side heads to Turf Moor tomorrow as it resumes its Premier League title defense, having already made a perfect start to the campaign. The Reds will be aiming to back up their tag as favorites to make it back-to-back crowns as they aim to make it four wins out of four.
And Liverpool fans will be hoping to get a first look at Alexander Isak in action following his deadline day move from Newcastle. The $169 million striker could be in line to make his first club appearance of the season, having received his first minutes since May with Sweden earlier in the week.
The visitors will be expected to claim all three points again this weekend as they face a Burnley side hoping not to endure the same fate as the other sides promoted from the Championship in recent seasons.
Scott Parker will have a tough job on his hands to keep the Clarets in the Premier League, although they do already have a win from their solitary home game so far, and they made Manchester United more than a little nervous at Old Trafford in their last outing.
Burnley though will be without at least three players, with hopes that Connor Roberts could return following the international break having been dashed, with the right-back expected to be out for another few weeks.
Defender Jordan Beyer is also set to remain out with a hamstring injury, while forward Zeki Amdouni suffered a cruciate ligament tear during the summer and won’t be back for some time.
Parker will have decisions to make on Bashir Humphreys, Axel Tuanzebe and Armando Broja. All three have made just one appearance in the Carabao Cup this season, and haven’t featured in a Premier League squad yet, but could potentially be in the running tomorrow.

Burnley has been boosted though by the news that defender Hjalmar Ekdal should be fit to face Liverpool, despite being forced off during Sweden’s defeat to Kosovo on Monday in the same game in which Isak made his first appearance of the season.
"He came off because he felt a little something, but it's nothing severe. He trained with us today, so he's okay,” Parker told reporters on Friday.
Liverpool has just the one player out injured for tomorrow's game, with Curtis Jones ruled out after picking up a knock against Arsenal before the international break.
