Calafiori call, Madueke starts, Nwaneri gets chance - Arsenal line-ups vs Bayern Munich

Mikel Arteta has some tough decisions to make regarding his Arsenal line-up for the clash against Bayern Munich. football.london's writers have their say on who should start at Emirates Stadium

One of Arsenal or Bayern Munich's faultless Champions League record will end on Wednesday night when the two European giants face off at Emirates Stadium.

Both sides have won each of their four games in the competition this season, with Inter the only other team to boast a 100% record. The Gunners have home advantage but that will not matter to Bayern, who beat PSG away from home at the start of November.

Speaking ahead of the match, Arteta said: "For sure, this is the kind of game in the competition that we want to face, and we've been very consistent in both competitions and as you mentioned they have as well. Tomorrow is a great test for us to see where we are."

Below, football.london's writers have their say on the side Arteta should name to face Bayern Munich.

If you told me that Arsenal can forego victory against Bayern Munich to win at Chelsea, I would take the offer in a heartbeat. The Gunners have positioned themselves so strongly in the Champions League table that this game, despite the occasion, just pails in importance to the weekend’s London derby.

I would give the likes of William Saliba, Riccardo Calafiori and Leandro Trossard a rest for the weekend to come. This means opportunities for Cristhian Mosquera, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri.

This gives enough quality to still have a competitive side to take on Bayern but rotates enough for some players to have a good rest for the weekend. Noni Madueke, Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Odegaard coming from the bench can inject both quality and respite for some other profiles in the side.

What a game we could be in for. Arsenal and Bayern Munich are both in great form and I'm expecting fireworks in north London on Wednesday night.

Riccardo Calafiori should sit out this one so he is fresh for Chelsea so Myles Lewis-Skelly comes in. Apart from that I would not change the backline from the North London Derby win.

Nor would I change the midfield. Christian Norgaard could do a job but the three in midfield need to be the strongest possible, for me, due to Bayern's threat all over the pitch.

Into the forward line and I would give Noni Madueke a start, probably on the left. It's not his strongest position but I fancy Bukayo Saka to score against the German giants from the right.
