What a whirlwind few days it has been for Chelsea. Liam Rosenior was relieved of his duties on Wednesday evening after less than four months as Blues head coach following a poor run of results.
Chelsea chiefs held a meeting on Wednesday and came to the decision to part company with Rosenior, who had signed a six-and-a-half-year contract at Stamford Bridge on January 6. Now, for the second time this season, McFarlane will take interim charge of the west Londoners.
This time around, he will do so for at least five games. McFarlane can extend that to six matches should he lead his team to victory over Leeds United in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley on Sunday afternoon.
