Can Semenyo play for Man City in Carabao Cup semi-final?

Manchester City will have Antoine Semenyo available for their EFL Cup semi-final against Newcastle United after a change to the competition's rules this season.

Semenyo, 26, joined Pep Guardiola's side in a £65m deal from Bournemouth and made a goalscoring debut in the FA Cup third round 10-1 thrashing of Exeter City.

The Ghana international came off the bench for Bournemouth in an EFL Cup second-round defeat by Brentford in August, which would have cup-tied the winger in previous seasons.

But under EFL rule 6.4 a player is permitted to play for up to two clubs in the competition in a season.

Max Alleyne, who was recalled from his loan at Championship side Watford, is also eligible to feature against Newcastle in the first leg on Tuesday after playing in the first round of the competition.

Chelsea forward Marc Guiu also benefited from the rule change after he featured for Sunderland on loan against Huddersfield Town in the second round, but returned to Chelsea before the end of the summer transfer window.
