Marco Donadel has been named head coach of CF Montréal on a permanent basis, the Major League Soccer club announced Tuesday. He had been replacing Laurent Courtois who was fired earlier this year.

Marco Donadel has been named head coach of CF Montréal on a permanent basis, the Major League Soccer club announced Tuesday.
Donadel took over as interim head coach on March 24, replacing Laurent Courtois who was fired after an 0-4-1 start to the season that saw CF Montréal score only two goals and concede nine.
The club finished with a 6-10-18 record to sit 13th in the 15-team Eastern Conference.
Donadel, from Conegliano, Italy, joined CF Montréal as an assistant coach on Dec. 29, 2024. He played for the team as a midfielder from 2015-18.
Before joining Montreal's staff, Donadel coached in Italy and Russia.
"I am happy to continue my tenure as head coach of CF Montréal," Donadel said in a release.
"I have a long history and great memories with this city. First, as a player and now as a member of the coaching staff. I would like to thank the club for trusting me to continue to lead the squad."
