Chelsea are in talks with Manchester United over the signing of Alejandro Garnacho, football.london understands.
The Blues have been long time admirers of the Argentine wide man, who wants to leave Old Trafford this summer, and even considered making a move for him in the January transfer window earlier in the year. Chelsea's interest in Garnacho is very much still there despite signing Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund last month.
Chelsea are now in dialogue with the 21-year-old's entourage over a move this window and Garnacho himself is believed to be keen on making the switch to Stamford Bridge. United boss Ruben Amorim all but confirmed the club's plan to move Garnacho on this summer during a recent press conference.
"I think Garnacho, you can understand and you can see, he's talented, he's a really talented boy," Amorim explained. "And sometimes things don't work out. You cannot explain specifically what it is.
"But I have the feeling, I think it's clear that Garnacho wants a different thing with a different leadership. And I can understand that. So I think it's not a problem.
"Sometimes you adapt to one guy, you have the connection. Other times, you want a new challenge. So, we try to make everything okay to all the parts. To the club, to the coach and to the players. So, it's a natural thing in football."

Meanwhile, Chelsea have been in talks this week to sign Xavi Simons. Negotiations have been going on for weeks now but football.london was told by an insider close to the deal earlier in the week that there is nothing to be concerned about and the expectation has always been - and still is - that Simons will move to SW6 this summer.
There is a school of thought, too, that Leipzig have been prioritising the prospective sale of Benjamin Sesko in recent days. Manchester United look to have beaten Newcastle United in the race to sign the Slovenian striker, so a move for Simons could now advance.
Leipzig are interested in Liverpool's Harvey Elliott, who plays a similar role to Simons, so in that respect they are already looking at alternatives to the Dutchman. It has also helped that in recent days, Chelsea have managed to offload Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Lesley Ugochukwu for almost £50million combined, while Armando Broja is on his way to Burnley for around £25million.
