Chelsea and Aston Villa transfer talks 'ongoing' amid Alejandro Garnacho twist

9 hours ago 33

Enzo Maresca has conceded that Nicolas Jackson could leave Chelsea before this summer transfer window ends.

The head coach acknowledged that Jackson will not be part of their matchday squad to play West Ham United despite being available for selection again. Maresca stopped short of saying the striker is close to leaving, but did say it would be better if the striker found a new club.

Jackson, however, could end up staying in the Premier League this season, with several clubs credited with an interest in the Senegal international. football.london has rounded up the latest Chelsea transfer rumours from Monday:

'Talks ongoing'

Jackson is said to be wanted by Unai Emery at Aston Villa as their top transfer target. The two reputedly have an excellent relationship after working together at Villarreal.

Fabrizio Romano claims talks are ongoing over the structure of a deal. However, several top clubs are reportedly keen.

football.london says: Of all the Premier League clubs credited with an interest in signing Jackson this month, Villa makes the most sense because of Emery. They have already signed Evann Guessand this summer, but after primarily playing out wide for Nice last season, the forward seems more of a Marcus Rashford replacement.

Santos 'spoken about'

Chelsea and Manchester United reportedly spoke about Andrey Santos during their discussions over Alejandro Garnacho. The latter are said to appreciate the Brazil international.

Ben Jacobs, though, insists that Chelsea do not want to sell, and the journalist does not believe their interest will lead anywhere. Those comments came on The United Stand.

football.london says: Santos almost made a dream Premier League debut for Chelsea at the weekend, but snatched at a massive chance in added time. Maresca has spoken highly of the midfielder this summer; any move during this transfer window would be surprising after being involved all summer.
