Chelsea can secure cash injection for next transfer as approach made for £30m signing

Chelsea could get a financial boost in the current summer transfer window with Premier League rivals Fulham showing an interest in midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

The Cottagers have been linked with an interest in the 26-year-old over the last few days. It's now reported by journalist Ben Jacobs that they have made a formal approach to Chelsea over a possible transfer.

Dewsbury-Hall arrived at Stamford Bridge last summer, signing from boyhood club Leicester City for a £30million fee. The move saw him reunited with manager Enzo Maresca, who he thrived under in the Championship winning season for the Foxes the previous year.

Despite knowing the manager well, the midfielder struggled for regular game-time at Stamford Bridge - especially in the Premier League. Last season saw him make 13 league appearances for the Blues with just two of them in the starting line-up.

Dewsbury-Hall did get more game-time in their successful Europa Conference League campaign. Despite starting all of the previous games, he was named on the bench for the final against Real Betis - playing the final 10 minutes of the match.

It’s reported that Chelsea see Dewsbury-Hall as a valuable squad player for the upcoming campaign, and he is not someone that they are actively looking to sell. However, the club would cash-in if the right price is offered.

That price would - reportedly - need to be more than the £30million that the club paid for him 12 months ago. If Fulham are willing to get to that fee is still to be seen.

But if they are, then it would be a handy cash injection for the Blues. Getting a £30million fee for a player who is not a regular starter means that the money can be reinvested into another transfer. Chelsea are currently in talks over moves for Ajax defender Jorrel Hato and Red Bull Leipzig attacker Xavi Simons .

Chelsea have, so far, officially completed the signings of seven new players this summer. Kendry Paez, Mamadou Sarrm Dario Essugo, Estavao, Liam Delap, Joao Pedro and Jamie Gittens have all completed switches to Stamford Bridge.
