Chelsea Club World Cup total prize money revealed after superb PSG win

Chelsea have earned almost £90million from their FIFA Club World Cup triumph in the United States of America.

The Blues lifted the trophy on Sunday night after a sensational win over UEFA Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain in the final at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Cole Palmer got things moving with a brace in the first half, with two goals that were almost a carbon copy of one another, slotting home left-footed into Gianluigi Donnarumma's right-hand post.

Then Joao Pedro continued his fine start to life as a Chelsea player, dinking over the Italian goalkeeper from Palmer's through ball just before half-time.

PSG were stunned and all Chelsea needed to do was manage the second half, something they did thanks to a couple of outstanding saves from the often maligned Robert Sanchez in goal.

And winning the whole thing certainly made Chelsea's participation in the heavily criticised expanded tournament worthwhile as the Blues pocketed around £88.4million from the tournament.

Chelsea began their FIFA Club World Cup journey with a guaranteed participation fee of around £25million, bolstered by an additional £3million from two group stage victories and £5.5million for advancing to the round of 16. Their triumph over Benfica in the quarter-finals netted them a further £9.7million, while defeating Palmeiras added another £15.5million to their earnings.

Winning the tournament meant they secured another £29.6million payment from FIFA to go with the title of being named Club World Cup champions.
