Chelsea get Alejandro Garnacho bargain transfer chance as wantaway star offered escape route

13 hours ago 57

Chelsea have been one of the busiest Premier League clubs in the summer transfer window with the likes of Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens and Liam Delap all signed.

Pedro and Delap joined during the Blues' Club World Cup campaign and helped Enzo Maresca's men to victory in the United States. The business isn't expected to stop now with a move for Xavi Simons being strongly tipped to be the next eye-catching deal.

However, there could also be some unpopular exits at Cobham with Enzo Fernandes and Cole Palmer the subject of interest from Europe's top teams. There is expected to be movement in the coming weeks in terms of outgoings with a number of fringe players up for sale.

Here, football.london brings you the latest transfer gossip doing the rounds...

Sterling offered lifeline

Raheem Sterling has been offered a fresh escape route out of Chelsea with Bayer Leverkusen monitoring the developments of the 30-year-old.

After spending last season at Arsenal, Sterling's future is in limbo with him no part of Maresca's plans. His wages would be a problem for Leverkusen but BBC Sport have reported that Erik ten Hag's men are exploring their options.

A loan move is more likely to be completed with an obligation to buy.

football.london says: "Chelsea have so many players they have to sell to declutter Maresca's squad and raise funds. Sterling is one of them and after failing to impress at Arsenal, he's now unwanted at Stamford Bridge.

"There's nearly no chance he will be given a chance under Maresca this season so his next best move is to leave. The problem is, there will have to be some sort of compromise in either his wage demand or accepting another temporary move."

Garnacho price tag slashed

Manchester United would be willing to accept £40m for Alejandro Garnacho this summer in a bid to sell the winger and spend the money on new targets.

ESPN have claimed that Chelsea continue to monitor the 21-year-old's situation but are reluctant to entertain United's £70m valuation. However, it's now claimed that the Reds have slashed their valuation to just £40m.

football.london says: "If Chelsea are serious about signing another wide forward then Garnacho for just £40m could be one of the best pieces of business available to them.

"Yes, his attitude has been an issue at United but at times, he's flourished and showed what he can do. £40m isn't terrible business and it would complete Maresca's wonderful attack with a player who has a point to prove."
