Chelsea handed huge Michael Olise to Liverpool update after failed summer transfer

2 hours ago 1

Chelsea have reportedly been warned that Liverpool would be willing to spend big on Michael Olise next summer.

The west London side have admired the 23-year-old since his days at Crystal Palace and saw a move to Stamford Bridge collapse last year.

The Blues had verbally agreed personal terms and were prepared to pay his £35million release clause.

However, Chelsea wouldn't have been in that position if they hadn't parted company with him when he was 14 years old. Olise joined Bayern Munich last summer and has scored 25 goals and provided 29 assists in just 64 appearances to date.

Several clubs have kept an eye on his development in Germany – so much so that Bild has claimed Liverpool would look to complete a move for him next summer. Olise is described as the perfect fit to succeed Mohamed Salah at Anfield.

As for Chelsea, it’s said that Enzo Maresca's side, who are always on the lookout for fresh talent, could be tempted to make a move. However, Bayern are reportedly working on a new deal for the France international.

As it stands, Olise is under contract at the Allianz Arena until the summer of 2029 and reportedly does not have a release clause.

While he is thought to not be among the highest earners at the club, Bayern can afford to offer him a lucrative contract.

The report adds that their plan is to secure his long-term future with a contract extension until 2031 and offer him a significant salary increase.

Bayern boss Vincent Kompany has already made it clear he hopes to count on the winger for many years to come.

"We generally don't talk about contract details. Our aim is that Michael will stay at FC Bayern for a long time," he said in the summer. "He's an exceptional talent.

"I see total calmness in Michael. He comes up to us because he wants to get even better. He's now won things for the first time, but he has to keep going.

"I hope he can make further progress and that the Bayern fans will get joy from him for a long time."
